What's that smell? OMG...

Unfortunately this year spring hasn’t really been in the air as we have all hoped. And due to the unfortunate weather conditions, I have spent a great deal of my time inside… BUT there is a positive point in this post. Looking for my next idea for a blog post, and I came across a very interesting article pertaining to morning breath and treatments to be rid of one of the most embarrassing things on the face of this earth. I know I know this is a cosmetic blog, but its fun to sometimes wonder off the path. I think beauty is skin deep, and it’s important to naturally take care of your skin, but another important aspect of beauty is cleanliness. Bad breath is caused by the already existing bacteria that happily lives in your mouth feeds off of the food particles that remain in between your teeth that are too small to be seen by the naked eye. The bacteria feeding on the leftover food produces a sulfur compound that is responsible for the smell. GROSS I know. But it happens to everyone, some worse than others. Other causes may be lack of flossing, or eating foods that contain unpleasant odors already. Don’t be alarmed; I have found some methods to ensure those pesky embarrassing odors no longer affect your social life! Cause lets face it, everyone has that friend, or family member, or professor, or boss with the bad breath… lets just ensure its not you!

1. Using an electric toothbrush- The electric toothbrush is the best choice in ridding yourself of bad breath. The rotating head spins into places that a normal toothbrush cannot reach.

2.  FLOSS & Mouthwash! – I know the first two answers have been somewhat obvious. But you will be surprised how many friends I have that do not floss their teeth.

3. Drinking water- One of the reasons the bacteria stays and feeds on the food particules is because your mouth is dry. Constantly drinking water helps keep a moist environment and flushes out bacteria.

4. Diet- One of the main causes for bad breath is the type of food you put into your body. Try chewing on parsley or mint leaves after meals for a natural way to relieve some of the bacteria causing the odor. ALSO! Sweets take a toll on your mouth and breath! Bacteria loves sugar and feeds on it, so be careful how much sugar you are consuming.

5. CHEW GUM! And pop mints, it’s important to remember to chew gum at the proper moments and not when you’re having a conversation with your boss.

6. Regular Dentist Visits- Make sure you, no matter how unpleasant they are, are going to see your dentist every 6 months for regular check ups and cleanings.

 I know this post wasn’t about the latest looks but I think beauty isn’t just your skin. A smile is worth a thousands words, make sure yours is memorable and odor free!
